Werner, Brigadier General, US Army <br />BG Werner has served for more than 39 years; 33 active and 6 <br />reserve. He began his career by enlisting in June 1980. He first <br />served in the Combat Heavy Engineers before transferring to Military <br />Intelligence. He concluded his enlisted career in 1988 as a platoon <br />sergeant working at the National Security Agency (NSA), Fort <br />Meade, Md. <br />BG Werner was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the <br />Transportation Corps after graduating from the University of Arizona <br />in 1991. He served in a wide variety of positions including: Battalion <br />Maintenance Officer; Battalion Transportation Officer; Group <br />Transportation Officer; Army ROTC Recruiting Operations Officer at <br />Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and Support Operations Integration Branch <br />Chief in Iraq. Inter BG Werner was the 7a' Mission Support <br />Command's Chief of Operations in Kaiserslautern, Germany and the <br />Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans, and Training for the <br />791h Theater Sustainment Command in Los Alamitos, California. He <br />has commanded three times: the 289th Trailer Transfer Point <br />Detachment in Phoenix, Arizona; Headquarters Company, 84th <br />Training Command in Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; and the 371st Combat <br />Sustainment Support Battalion in Riverside, California. <br />BG Werner holds a Bachelor of Science in Business <br />Administration, a Master of Arts in Organizational Management, and <br />a Masters of Strategic Studies. He has skill identifiers as a Joint <br />Planner, Strategist, and Instructor. <br />BG Wernees awards and decorations include the Bronze Star <br />Medal; Meritorious Service Medals with seven oak leaf clusters; the <br />Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters; the Joint <br />Service Achievement Medal; the Army Achievement Medal with <br />seven oak leaf clusters; the NCO Professional Development Ribbon <br />with numeral "2" device; the Korea Defense Service Medal; Iraq <br />Campaign Medal with 2 stars; the Global War on Terrorism Service <br />Medal; the Combat Action Badge; and the Air Assault Badge. <br />BG Werner's dad was a Vietnam Veteran and a Senior Master <br />Sergeant in the US Air Force. BG Werner has been marred to the <br />former Ms. Mari Reinhold for 34 years. Mari is a former teacher <br />with a passion for reading and she volunteers at the Murrieta Library <br />and the Food Pantry. The Werners have two children (Andy, 21 and <br />Annabelle, 19), both of whom are college students. Andy is a <br />Petroleum Engineering student and Annabelle is an international <br />Development Studies and Political Science major.
